Good Days Chronic Disease Fund: Lack of Funding for 2025

Good Days Chronic Disease Fund: Lack of Funding for 2025

In the past, patients with Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans were eligible to enroll in the Good Days program, a national non-profit charitable organization, that assisted with offsetting the cost of the patient responsibility coinsurance for injections based on financial need.

Unfortunately, at this time, the program is not enrolling new patients, and Good Days has not received adequate funding to continue assisting existing patients.

As a result, until Good Days Chronic Disease Fund receives more funding, patients will be responsible for their coinsurance amount at the time of their visit. As participating providers in the Medicare program, Denver Eye Surgeons is required by federal law to collect unmet deductible, and coinsurance amounts for Medicare and Medicare Advantage plan beneficiaries.

Denver Eye Surgeons recognizes the importance of continued treatment for our patients. If you are unable to afford your coinsurance, please do not skip your scheduled appointment – there may be other treatment options available. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery vs Traditional Surgery

Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery vs Traditional Surgery

When considering cataract surgery, it is crucial to understand the differences between laser-assisted and traditional surgery. Cataract surgery involves removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial one to improve vision. Laser-assisted surgery involves using laser technology to perform certain steps, while traditional surgery relies on manual techniques. By comprehending these differences, our patients can make informed decisions about which approach best suits their needs and ensures optimal outcomes.

Traditional Cataract Surgery

In traditional cataract surgery, an incision is made by hand, the cloudy lens is removed manually, and an artificial lens is inserted. While traditional surgery has been successfully performed for many years, it does have limitations such as potential variability in incision size and shape, and manual removal of the lens.
